I started to run out of ideas to do so I decided to take photos of bright colored foods. I found it easy to do this because I could position the fruit the way that I wanted. Below is an unedited version of my best photo. ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: 1/25 f-stop: 5.6 Below is the edited version. I cropped the image, took away some of the glair and made the image darker. Below are some more images I took. I learned that I really like taking photos of the bright colors of the food. I tried to take some of these in manual but it was hard for me to do.

This assignment was independent. I got to chose different things to do on photo that I thought I could handle because I struggle with photoshop. I wanted to do one that was harder with the second image. The photo above was my favorite to work on. It was mostly just repeating the same step several times but I really liked the way it turned out. The one above was the most challenging one I worked on but it turned out good, so it was worth it. The photo above was easy but I struggled with it in the beginning. The photo above was the easiest to do. It took about fifteen minutes. I learned from this assignment that photoshop is hard for me. I need to think outside the box more and have more fun with expressing my ideas. In the end I really liked how my photos turned out.
I decided to do a still life assignment to challenge myself. Still life was really hard for me. I didn't like to have to set up my photo, but once I started taking photos it got easier. Below is the unedited version of my best photo. ISO: 80 f-stop: 2.6 Shutter Speed: 1/60 Below is the edited version. I changed it to black and white, took away some of the glare caused by the flash and I darkened the background. These are some more photos that I took for still life. This assignment was to make it look like a subject is in more than one place at a time. I learned how to make photo stacks in photoshop and how to do layer masking. Doing this was a lot easier than I thought it would be. To make the subject appear in multiple places you have to let them only show through on to the blank image of the scene. I really enjoyed this project as a whole.
I wanted to do a topic that I thought would be fun so I decided to do landscape / nature photos. All of the photos were taken in the woods behind my house and I liked that I didn't have to go far to that them but I did have to stand outside in the cold. Below is my best unedited photo. ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/250 f-stop: 3.5 Below is the edited version of the photo above. I cropped some of the top off and changed the exposure slightly. It is really hard to tell that it was edited but believe me it is. I ended up really enjoying landscape photography. My favorite thing about this image is the trees and the branches reaching out in every direction, something you don't see in the summer. Below are some more photos I took. I had to take a photo of my school and change the context. Put things in the school that are not naturally there like a tree. As you can see I wanted to make the inside of the school look like it was outside. With this project I learned how to make something have a shadow and how to erase parts of an image to show some of a different image that is behind it.
I decided that I would take photos and then make them black and white. I have woods behind my house so I didn't have to go far to take these photos. I wanted to do this because I wanted to challenge myself. This is not a topic that I would consider to take pictures of. I don't know why but this is just an area that I'm not interested in. I do enjoy looking at good black and white photos but not taking them because it is hard to visualize what they will look like. Below is an unedited version of my best photo. ISO: 1600 f-stop: 8.0 Shutter Speed: 1/50 Below is the edited version of the photo above. Below are more photos that I decided to make black and white. I knew that changing a photo to black and white was only one click but I think that because there is a lack of color in the original photos makes it better to change the photos to black and white.
This assignment was to take several photos that overlapped each other so that when we put them all in to photoshop they could be stitched together and make a nice panoramic. I learned that it is really easy to produce a panoramic photo in photoshop. I have really enjoyed taking panoramic photos and working with them in photoshop.
I chose motion as my topic for this week. These photos are of my brother riding our longboard while I was telling him that he had to keep riding back and forth. Below is what I believe to be the best photo that I took. f-stop: 8.0 Shutter Speed: 1/60 ISO: 100 Below are a few more photos that I took. When I started working on motion in my photos I knew that I wanted to experiment with having the subject blurry and in focus by panning. My favorite ones are when he is blurry.
For this assignment I was given an image of a car and told to make it look identical to an already edited image. Below is the before photo of the car. Below is the edited version of the car that I did. I learned from this assignment some of the basic functions in photoshop. Some of it was hard for me to wrap my head around but in the end I ended up figuring it out. Finally I got to have fun and mess around with photoshop so I darkened the windshield, changed the color of the car to purple, and did a few more changes.
For this assignment I decided to take pictures of only one of my dogs. I wanted to get photos of both of my dogs but I couldn't get her to follow directions so I ended up only taking pictures of my chocolate lab, Chili. Below is my best photo of her. ISO: 100 f-stop: 4.5 Shutter Speed: 1/250 Below are five more of my best photos. After going through that experience of taking pictures of an animal that does whatever they want I learned that you always have to be prepared to take a photo. For me to get her to look at the camera I had to hold a treat in my hand. As you can see I also got sone action shots of her trying to catch the treat.
For this assignment I had to put a photo in photoshop and change the colorization on four of the same photo. The first part of the assignment was to use a picture of ourself and the second part was to be creative and use whatever photo we wanted. I decided to use a photo that I took of a leaf in the snow. That is why the leaf is the only thing in color. Below is the original photo I used. And below is my final result after using photoshop. Below is the other photo that I chose to use. From this assignment I learned how to change the filters on an image and how to change the threshold dialog in an image. As you can see I also learned how to change the canvas size and that is why I was able to get the same image into what looks like one photo. I decided that for my second shooting assignment I wanted to take pictures of animals. I have two dogs myself and hope to work on taking photos of them in a way that captures their personality. Another thing that I would like to work on is experimenting with different apertures. Below are three photo links that I believe represent what I would like to capture in my two dogs. Ole Kiaer Brian D Amanda Wells The reason for me choosing these inspiration photos is because I like that the main focus is the dog and it's personality, or what you think it's personality would be. I got to decide what my topic was and what I took pictures of. I decided to take up close macro pictures of an evergreen tree. This is my best photo below. ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/400 Aperture: f-stop 3.5 Below are five more photos from the same shoot. After this assignment I learned that I really enjoyed taking macro photos. I find that it is interesting to be able to see all the little and intricate details that we don't even think are there. One thing that I didn't like was being outside in the cold while I was taking these pictures, but I like how they came out so I think that it was worth it. For my first photo assignment I have decided to focus on macro photography. I hope to work on getting better at emphasizing specific details in up close pictures. Some photographers that I took inspiration from are Ronald Ehrl, Alexis DeBord, and Christophe Brutel I like that these photos look simple and peaceful. My favorite is the picture of the thorn because you have to be careful when you are taking the picture. These photos display eleven elements of photo composition. All of the photos came from inside of the school. After I learned what the elements of composition were it was my job to capture them to show my understanding. From this assignment I learned how to use a camera in a more affective way so that I can get the picture I want. Welcome to my blog about photography. Some activities that I enjoy outside of school include competitive swimming, being with family, and watching my favorite television shows. I decided to take a digital photography class because I thought it sounded interesting and I wanted to explore my creativity. |
